Hi all, I need help. If you go to www.myse.uklinux.net you will find my wap page. Go onto the downloads and you will see a list of items for downloading and so forth. At the moment these pages are hard coded and I want them to be created using PHP. I want the downloads to be organised in a xml or mysql database which consists of download_link, Image_link and description of the download.

I also want the capability so users can upload their own downloads onto the site through an interactive PHP script on the full blown internet.

I have rushed this question as I dont have much time so I hope you know what I need.

Any Help will be very grateful.

PS I am unable to fund any PHP scripts so they must be free but your names will be credited.

Thanx

I'm not going to post full solutions here because it would take up several screens

Instead, have a look at this to help you with the MySQL download link / description etc. database solution:

http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql/1

It gives you everything you need to create fully functional PHP/MySQL database driven webpages that can do just about anything

As for file uploading in PHP, I found this particularly usefull but a google search will turn up loads more, including complete cut and paste scripts:

http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/bealers20000904.php3

Bear in mind that some hosting companies do not allow uploading via PHP for security reasons.

Any questions / problems, post back here and let me know

EDIT: First thing you need to do is install phpmyadmin. I know you're busy and you want someone to do it all for you but honestly, it's not a big job and if you follow the tutorials you'll see that it won't take very long at all to achieve what you want.

Cheers mate I am looking thourhg the tutorial now. Your help will be noted as soon as I have the system up and running. I will also allow you to have private testing of the service before I let it go live.

Their is one other thing though, I am looking for a decent web host for my site I have had it up to here with UKLINUX - I want a host that has PHP/MySQL support (Obvious) and is completely free without banner ads and limited restrictions. The ones I find on the net seem to be closed. And of course they must have htaccess support and wap and XHTML support too.

Your help will be much appreciated.

PS leave your EMail address so I can send you the link to the test site when I have it up and running.

Again Thanx

I don't know of any ad-free PHP/MySQL hosts, the one I use costs £20 per year which I think is quite reasonable.

I did find this though, as far as I can tell they only require you to put a small text link at the top of your pages:

Pm'd you my email addy
