Does anybody have experience with SonyEricsson modem GR47 or GR48?

My company develops wireless applications based on this modem and we are encountering problems with using GPRS with the internal stack, as well as lots of echo when using voice (seems better on the very last firmware version).

Anybody else has similar experiencies?

Hello Peejay,

we had just started working with the GR47 last week, and I did very little testing with GPRS only used AT commands ( emulating TCPIP connections). I noticed we frequently had the GPRS connection dropped and I thought it was a problem with out operator.
regarding the echo during voice calls, we have not been able to get the echo cancelation feature to work properly. I tried all diferent combinations of voice profiles , handset algorithms and enabling/disabling echo cancelation and have got zero echo suppression. We will be trying a siemens MC35i next week and see if it behaves better regarding to echo supression.
You mentioned that newer firmware seemed better, how do you get newer firmware?
Wich version are you using?

Hello,

I developed a GPRS plataform for Telecontrol And Data Aquisition of MV electric net for my Company (Portugal Electric Company). I used SonyEricsson GR47 modems with UDP packets for data transmission. I dont have any problems using TCP/IP stack (Tx/Rx using TCP or UDP).

But i encounter other problem. It seems that the modems somehow turn off for no aparently reason.

I guess that hapens when the modems enter in a cyclic soft-reset state (i use rst() function when they cannot create PDP context).

Does anybody have the some auto turn off problem?
Thanks
