Talking on phones in public areas: anyone else annoyed? |

Is it just me or do other people get annoyed when you have to listen to someone elses conversations in public places, such as a supermarket? We all do it, but it is these conversations that go on and on and on. I get off as quick as possible, or say I will call them back. And don't get me started on Nextell users. |

Hey,
You could always check this out. Since we live in the US, we can purchase and use it. I don't understand why people in the UK aren't. Any insight on this matter would help.
Thanks!!!

Oh, man, that would be awesome. I am relatively sure that it is illegal to jam signals in US. Bummer. How fun would that be to walk into a wireless store with that turned on.

It is illegal, but there is so much controversy over that. I mean, if you did, there's no way to detect them as of now. I mean, as of now, people think it's simply a bad signal. Heck, I'm gonna be getting me one of those soon since I just got a job!!!
I'll report how well they work when I do!

Yeah, but there is a certain etiquette to using mobiles. Like if you were in a movie theatre, it would REALLY be annoying if people's phones kept going off.
I use the computers in my school's computer lab, and it is VERY annoying to hear people having their conversations in front of me. And when I comment on their conversation, they get mad at me! If you're gonna talk loud enough for me to hear, don't get mad if I comment on it.
But then again, there are controversies over this. What do you do if you're a doctor who has an important call coming in, but you want to spend time with your family at a movie?
You can put your phone on vibrate, but then again, you might not feel it. So you put it on loud cause the movie is loud. But what about the quiet parts of the movie? So why don't you stay home? Cause you want to be with your family. And the list can go on...........................................................
I have a major feeling that this thread is gonna start some flame wars.

Good post, rdnymllnsktr. It is an etiquite thing. People should be using good judgement. OF course, judgement nowadays often sucks. I listened to a lady have a LOUD conversation with someone else on her Nextell, using lots of profanity. Did I need to listen to that? OF course, I got my revenge, since she was talking about a jeweler in a mall, and I new the jeweler, and told him before she walked back in. She got smart and vulgar with him, and ended up being escorted to the security office! HA |

you no when you use public transport and the person next to you is on the phone (trying to be discreet) but the person teir talking to is shouting down the phone, that you can hear them, what you should do (and i have) is listen to what their sayin, and if they ask a general Q, like what you doin tonight, answer them b4 the person they asked! the person i did it to got embarrased and just ended the call there and then without sayin good bye. that will teach them for not turning the ear volume down.
you got to be cruel to be kind.... and it was v.funny..

if i had that capability i would, that would be amuzing... the thing i hate the most though, has to be those (kids normally) people who have just got e new phone, and start going through the ringtones, as if to show off their new phone, and when you turn to look, its a crap nokia that was released bout 3months ago!
