???
I can send Text messaging across borders with no problem using a Voicestream SIM or Cingular SIM card (Don't know about AT&T, haven't got one yet). I also have an international SIM from Luxemburg which also works perfectly fine here.
Also, I can send and recieve international calls using my Cingular SIM card without any problems.

n|ck_xp, they are prepaid SIM cards that work in over the world without having to switch SIM cards, so your number stays the same. Most popular being Swisscom, since it supports the most countries, but there are plenty of others available. It's very useful when traveling, especially when you have friends calling you from across borders.
Most GSM providers will sell you prepaid international SIM card if asked as well (I don't know if they all have international availability). |

Oh and also, as for your international text messaging, keep trying, maybe it's getting through but you just don't feel like it is (I felt that way too, but I called my friend and she was recieving my messages). Although it could just be Voicestream being crappy like always...
Try Cingular.
As for the price of my phone, I purchased it for $500, but the price has slightly dropped (I don't mind, hehe).
