Tmobile T610: How to unlock If I have the unlock code? |

I have my T-mobile sony ericsson T610 from USA. I left the original SIM in another old phone and left it with my friend (friend can use the phone while I am away). Now, I am in India trying to use another SIM from a local carier. [Last time around I couldn't send/recieve any calls on the phone and so, I left the original SIM in US itself]. I got the instuctions and unlock code from T-Mobile.
The instructions says, I have to
1, Press the Left (using jog dial)
2, Press * twice
3, Press Left again (I should see, “Personalized with MNCx”, but nothing happened here)
(ie, <**<)
At step 2, when I press the second * I get the message "!Emergency Calls Only". I tried by removing the SIM from the phone, but no progress. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to have the original SIM when unlocking?
Could you please give me the steps required to unlock the T-610. (Yes, I have the unlock code from my original service provider) |

try to your original network. I think they will teach you. They even give you the code ;-)

Thanks for the response.
I already got the unlock code from T-mobile and got the instuctions. I tried the instructions and am not getting what I wanted. I send a followup mail to their instruction and am still waiting for their response. I followed the instruction and did not work. I am wondering whether I am doing anything wrong.
My question is mainly, whether I need to have the original SIM when I try unlocking? or, Do I have to be on the same network when trying?
Thanks, |

i think you do. if this is so, just have your friend mail it to you, and then unlock it.

the response stops when you don't ask a sony ericsson question lol.
Don't know how it is done but can be done remotely i.e. you dont have to send your phone to them

You guys are all................................
God, you don't know anything! When you put the code in, your phone is supposed to be off, and the SIM removed. You DON'T have to be on the same network, cause your SIM's not in and your phone's off, so your phone won't be detecting networks.
AND YOUR PHONE CANNOT BE REMOTELY UNLOCKED!!! YOU NEED TO CONNECT IT TO YOUR PC, VIA A CABLE TO, AT THE VERY LEAST, RECEIVE AN UNLOCKING CODE. Use the bloody search!

Regarding the T610:
1. He has the unlocking code already, given to him by T-Mobile.
2. T610 allows unlocking codes to be entered with the phone switched on, with or without a sim card in via the <**< command. If you have the code, the phone does not need to be linked to a PC.
I assume then that you were talking about the Motorola, oh oracle of all knowledge?

You need to learn your knowledge. I was referring to the fact that you cannot receive an unlocking code (via a program, not including service providers). You do in fact need to have your SIM card out of the phone, as you can see in this topic, okay, oh "one who runs at the mouth, but it should be coming out of somewhere else"?

Hey, calm down
I wasn't attacking you, just your post. It came across as very arrogant.
All I was saying was that if he already has the code, why does he need to recieve it?
As for removing the sim card first, I have to disagree. It is not always necesary as I have unlucked my friends T610 from T-Mobile with his sim card in. Reason being, I didn't know at the time that you were supposed to remove it! Might have been a fluke, but there you go.
Anyway, feel free to continue with the insults

I was just referring to those who might be wanting to get the code to unlock their phone, but can't get it from their carriers. It is safest to remove the SIM, just in case something unexpected happens. Okay? Cheers. I'm very sorry, I'm having marriage problems.
