Why? Have you subscribed to the service at all? Then pls. Call and tell customer support to send the settings OTA. That is what they usually do. :-)

in fact i have yet to get auto setup settings file from them

This is bad :-( ok do one thing! Log on to sonyericsson.com and send for those settings or better ask for some airtel friends the settings and enter manually.

@sanjubaba
SMS the words "MO" to 501, ull get the automatic setup immediately say within half hour.
likewise
send a sms to 121 with the words "activate mms"
then after recieving the confirmation that mms is active, which would take approximately 24hrs
SMS the words "MMS" to 501 for the automatic setup
Im using Airtel in chennai. it was a breeze setting my P900 up, and remember to restart ur phone

I also agree AirSmell customer service are useless.
I have been using (well trying to) their GPRS for last 2 months. It is forever getting switched on and off. VERY unreliable. Also the best speed I have ever managed to get is 1.5K when my friend who has Reliance gets 11.5k. I don't think it is REAL gprs.
I am considering cancelling my contract and switching to Reliance.
Only shame is..
1. I prefer my SE T610 but would have to have Reliance Handset.
2. Reliance Handsets don't have Bluetooth (which I also like).
3. Reliance Handsets don't use sim cards so I couldn't swap providers.
But still I think I will still switch... it's just too frustrating. |

Hi guys/gals, thanks to all of you I am forewarned not to go in for the Airtel GPRS service.. funny thing is they are charging 6 times what Hutch is and now I find that the service sucks, besides.
Just bought my mum a Hutch connection and I am on Airtel.. think I'll switch too or maybe use her sim for all gprs uses.
Can anyone help me.. I have a Nokia 7250i and wanted to know how ppl rate the performance of this phone.. overall, battery, gprs, looks, features... I liked it because it was perhaps the only phone with both FM radio and camera (nothing fancy but at least I can click cops jumping red lights and post these photos in TOI or somewhere).

I gotta tell u one thing, airtel charges 600 for all services, hutch charges 100 only for gprs access on the fone. whereas with the airtel 600 connection u can connect it to a laptop or a pc.
Hutch charges 499 for the same service. the difference is only marginal.

i subscribed to airtel(punjab) GPRS on 24th last month, the customer care didnt even care to inform me after gprs was activated.let alone sending me the settings, but after a week or so they deactivated gprs without any reason,i called cuctomer care about 10 times, all i got were false assurances.till i visited their corporate office.got activated after 2 hours, again deactivated after couple of hours.i have just requested airtel to deactivate the stupid service.
if anyone out there is not having any problem with airtle gprs.just consider yourself lucky |

Hi,
I've just written an email to hutch about my problem of being unable to access GPRS and MMS through my mobile. I am hutch punjab subscriber.

Hutch Guys,
I am your subscriber since july 2005 and so far your servcies have been good. But, recently, I am facing a simple problem of not being able to connect to internet through my handset. And all I expect from HUTCH is to send me the right settings for GPRS and MMS, however, you have choosen to ignore the customer completly. Okay, may be you can think I am just throwing away my anger upon you. Well, let me justify that. Here are the case numbers:
202126978 - 31 May
202125282 - 31 May
201100428 - 30 May
200787038 - 29 May
199658834 - 28 May
199031808 - 27 May
199027522 - 27 May
198597368 - 27 May
198197816 - 26 May
196895214 - 24 May
194904374 - 20 May
193122894 - 17 May
With the simple problem from last 13 days, what do you think am I stupid with whom you can fool around. I am not that simple. Let me tell you if the problem does not get resolved in 24 hours, then I am going to take legal course of action against your customer care services. I still don't know if it is possible or not, but again I am not going to give up and I will go to every end to make it happen and make sure that I make the life hard for you. I can even send mail/email to the CEO of Hutch. If you do not listen to my complaint, I will make sure that your name appears in newspapers and whatever I can lay my hands on.

This should be an eye opener to those who are considering is better than Airtel. I have also used Airtel and I think their customer care is pathetic as compared to Hutch. But now, this happened and I am actually concerned about my choice of "who is the best?". I come up with conclusion that no one is simply the best. A good service will eventually become poor if you ask them to do something which is beyond their limit.
Here is enough evidence to show that:
1. Airtel has problem that they never listen to customer genuine problems. They got to do what they got to do. I had this problem with Airtel Delhi as well as Airtel Punjab.
2. Now, hutch was good in Delhi and so far good in punjab but now it has become worst, because they are not able to handle GPRS requests from customers in an efficient manner. So, this is their limit.
If I have to choose connection provider, I will definitely study what the strong/weak areas of any service provider so that I don't get frustrated when connection providers don't deliver expected results.
By the way, I am using Sony erricsson W800i.
