Obviously cable. If BT/IR is used, there is no need for such procedure to obtain the picture.

You need to back up the whole phone book.

Hello dear, i'm mystified like you, i whould like to send pics to pc with my t68i but i can't, i got IrDa Y160Sigmatel with Windows98 on a compaq presario 1245, and it's no way! I've tried with the same device on an other pc running xp, and it get fine! A matter of pc or windows... Try with other device to find the origins .
asking other people is better than don't knowing

Once it is backed up onto the phone, you need to extract the picture portion(which are all alphabetic/numeric characters but gibberish) from the .ms file into a different file, and then decode the data using one of the BinHex/Mime decoder to decode it. This also explains why a picture's file size is larger on the phone than it is on the PC. It's stored in a different format with an expanded size on the phone, ready to be sent as email attachment.

In other words... not worth the trouble doing it with the cable. Get an IR/BT adapter.
