Is there any (free) tool for making wapsites using images in colour?
(like esato)
what format do I use? gif/jpg/bmp/wbmp? or..?

1. Find a host that supports wap mime types in addition to html
2. Create images in gif format
3. Create your wap pages and upload them and the images to the server
