hi.

i have searched the site and unfortunately, i was not able to find the "correct" information (not even in the FAQ). so i decided to create this topic.

this might even start a new FAQ re: ring-tones.

so here goes...

i have a z600. i got a couple of questions. i would like to create my own ring tone. aside from the "music dj" how can i create a ring tone? do i need to use a specific program? can i edit an .mp3 file and upload the sound?

thanks in advance.

mp3 to midi converters are available but do not work very well at all. There are loads of posts on Esato about that particular subject!

The best software packages for creating your own midi files are all commercial and very expensive, such as soundforge and cubase. The one I use personally is called 'Modplug Tracker', and is free of charge.

You can get it here:

I use to make a search on the web for midi files with famous songs.

That works better than downloading from a Ringtone site since the midis I find at the web is complete, not only the chorus that comes from the ringtone sites...

I agree... however cutting the piece you want out of the song is a bit cumbersome

I rather have the entire song as ringtone, even if it takes at least twice as much on the memory as the tones from the ringtone site does

@seiunUsagi
How long does your phone ring then?
Mine doesn´t ring longer than it takes for a short Midi to finish anyway.. not much point in having a 5-minute tune as ringer IMO..

i would only like to take an instrumental part of a song and evtl. convert it to .mp3 or rather .mid and use it as a ring tone.

is that so hard to do?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
