im using theme creator pro and im currently making a theme. i uploaded the finished product to my website with the file extension .thm (saved in theme creator) and it goes to download and then tells me "item not supported". is the theme wrong or is it my website?

You have tn register MIME types,you must create file called .htacess and place it in theme directory. Use the search,you'll find some more info about that.
