I have noticed that when the phone is being charged the charger makes a wierd ticking sound like a time bomb is in action ;-) has anyone had a similar experience? It is really low. You have to place your ear beside the charger to hear it.

Well, generally a charger is actually a transformer that reduce the voltage and amps so you can plug it into your device. It is normal to hear a continual soft sound due to the transformation of the voltage and amps. I must say that is strange you can hear this sound from the charger but still there is nothing to worry about. There is no chance to burn your phone though if this is your concern. It is more likely the charger to be burned but I dont think this will happen because all chargers are protected by an electronic circuit.

Generally all chargers make a small amount of noise as energtic said, its due to the charger stepping down the voltage and amps.

It will not affect the battery at all. Dont worry, I can guarantee you that.

You want to hear my Nokia charger. It came with a 3510i and makes a sound like an alarm. You can hear it over a tv but at night time it can keep me awake!

Is the charger made by Delta,Thailand ?
I had a similar problem with an charger a couple of months ago. The was audible noise from the charger (Delta make) for a few minutes after which it stopped working. Got it swapped at Salora... |

When I had T39m - the phone was ticking extremly quietly [in standby mode]. I had to put my ear against the phone and there had to be silence in the room. But it really ticked. Also my friend's T39m ticked. |

My wife, two kids and I all use phones and headsets. Sometimes chargers are all plugged at the same time, and I have yet to hear that ticking sound that you described (even if I place my ear against the charger).
I suggest that you have that particular charger replaced (for your own peace of mind).
