Email-troubles :( |

I have a small problem,..or actually I think its a large one.
My email pop and smtp adresses are the same.
But the problem is, that my internet-provider has more than 1 number for pop and smtp. (They only have one adress)
They switch between 5 different numbers. My mail can therefore be on any of those 5 different numbers, depending on where there is some "free-space".
Any ideas ???
Or do I have to make 5 different email-settings in the T-68 ???
I've tried to write the names instead of numbers in the pop and smtp-settings. It works when retrieving mail,..BUT I cant send any mail at all
BTW: I use GPRS.
Please, help me out here, guys & girls

Jan, when you said "number" are you referring to dial up number or IP address? If it is IP address then I believe the only way is to use FQDN (host.domain) because it is the only way the DNS server can do a round-robin (single host/many IP addresses). Sorry, can't be of much help. |

Jan, arnold is right. THe "number" you are referring must be the IP address. You need to find the host/domain of your e-mail server and put that into your pop and smtp. |

My guess is that Jan try to explain that a domain points to 5 different IP addresses.
E.g pop3.mailserver.com points to 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, 10.0.0.3 etc. Just like www.yahoo.com points to 64.58.76.227, 216.115.102.81 and 216.115.102.77 etc.
But sorry Jan, I have no solution to your problem other than signing up with a mail provider that could fetch mail from your existing account and let you access the new account instead. |

Since reception of e-mail works, why not use another SMTP service that doesn't check the source e-mail address?
There should be several of those available...
...can't think of one for the moment though... |

JHB : this I've thought about too. Using e.g. my phone-operators smtp (they are internet-providers as well), instead of my internet-providers smtp.
Think I'm gonna have a go with this. Maybe it will actually work.
I mean, when I have to pay for the use of email via phone, it will happen through my phone-operator anyway.
Thanks for the answer

LAFFEN : yep you're right. Sorry, didnt think about writing the word IP, hehe.
And yes,..one domain points to 5 different ip-adresses.
But then, as JHB wrote, I can recieve mail, so why not try with another SMTP-name.
For example my phone-operator's number/name.
(they are internet-providers as well as phone-operator)
If this doesnt work,..hmm, then I will probably just have to live with this, hehe..
or change my internet-provider.
Thanks for the answers, you guys
