elgato and i have noticed with our upgraded t68m's that if you send a picture at say 4kb it actually takes up 8kb (double) of the phones memory... we'd like to have someone with a t68i (real one) do the same and see if it is our phones that are buggy or if its a general issue... send me a private message with your e-mail and i'll send you our test pic
thanks in advance
(oh would like to try it with both a r2a014 and r2b025 phone to see if its software related)

Yes, I just noticed this too.
I thought maybe it was possible that it was the difference between KB and kb (You were using kb, but it's really in capital letters KB), but it's not, it actually takes twice the size for some reason. Both windows and the phone displays in KB.

Just did another test with a 1KB file and noticed that it takes 3KB of space, even though the picture information says 1KB.

However, if you take a look at the file in Windows properties, I noticed that the Size on disk used is 4KB even though the size says 1KB, perhaps this is the same situation with the phone?

well a 7kb gif takes up 8kb on the computer but 14k on the phone... think it has to do with previews... you use r2a or r2b?

R2A, didn't upgrade to R2B yet (I don't want to send my phone away, hehe), but I will when I go back to Europe.

This is a filesystem limitation propably. Windows works the same way, with a minium file size, and each size above that has to be divideable by that size.

Ie. if the minimum size is 4kb, a 2kb file will take up 4kb. a 7kb file will take up 8kb and so on.

Yep....I notice that long time ago and my firmware is R2B025. It really sucks that it uses more memory than I upload.

Also, if you upload a animated gif for screensaver, it takes a long time for the phone to actually have a thumbnail ready. Lots of times if you I just keep on viewing a the screensaver, it will crash the phone! The screensaver I uploaded to my phone was 8kb but when it is in the phone, it ends up being 22kb!!!!
