This week I received my bluetooth Pc card from 3COM. Upon installing it on my wife's laptop (Compaq Armada M300 with W2K SP2) it works perfectly. I didn't use the supplied drivers, but downloaded the latest drivers from the 3COM website. Dial-up, sending of pictures everything works perfect.

Now I also installed at my HP Omnibook 500, also W2K SP2 and the card refuses to work properly. At first it worked, and then it started to give trouble. Removed it, installed it again etc. I can't get it working. Now I tried it under Win Xp and the problem keeps existing. I installed the card and the software under Administrator rights. When I log in under my own username, I don't see the virual COM ports attached to each profile.

I am out of tricks, anyone experienced the same problems? I read Jan's link to the Greek guy's website, but it doesn't work for me. What really puzzles me is that it works flawless on the Armada M300.

Anyone out there with some good suggestions?

Try updating the drivers for the PCMCIA controller.

Thanks will try that as well. However the hardware is working ok. In the device manager all the virtual ports are there. So it looks to me that the hardware is working.
But when I want to send something from the phone to the pc it doesn't work. I can send things from the pc to the phone. SO I think it should be a bluetooth problem, or a problem of the 3COM connection management software.

Were you ever successfull in sending pics from your T68i to your PC with the 3COM Bluetooth? I have never been able to and see from other postings that others have the same problem with the 3COM USB Bluetooth adapter.

I can send pictures, buisness cards etc. from my phone and vice versa. However the COM ports dialog doesn't show any any virtual COM ports. However they are visible in the device manager of windows. But if I set these COM ports in my Mobile Phone Monitor I still am not able to create a serial connection with the phone.

Got the damm thing working now under the Administrator profile. Now still need to have it working under my own username.

Why can't I see my virtual COM ports??? If I have those then it works!

Mmm, have it working now. Has to do with how you set your user rights. Works like a dream now. Can recommend this card!

I've got this card as well for a periode of a week now. I'm very happy about it. First there were some problems with installing. But I think this was my fault (net rebooting between installs).

I tried to get connected to the internet while traveling by train and it worked fine. A few line drops, but this was because I was out of range of my provider.

The only thing I can't get fixed is to send a fax by Bluetooth. I think this should be possible, but it won't work. There is no connection build up to my phone when sending the fax.

Didn't try to use the fax option yet.

Wat heb je voor die kaart betaald? Ik heb de mijne in Hong Kong gekocht voor HKD1150(US$ 150).

I also have the 3Com PCMCIA - very happy with it - truly works like a dream (and looks cool too)...

I've tried everything except faxing with it. Tried connecting to the Internet in my car in the desert and that was super-cool.

Where would we be without technology...

You know where I could get one? I've only seen it on www.dustin.se and that costs quite a bit, about 170 $.

Also, I'd like to know if it works on all laptops, as long as there's a pc card slot? I have a Compaq Armada 1750, it should work with it?

Thanks
