This is how i assume the bluetooth range system works, if the phones ten metre range enters the dongles 100metre range then i can send files from phone to pc but when i was walking home i tried and it didnt work. So can someone actually tell me how it works out. I drew this because i was bored and somehow seems remotely relevant to it.

Doesn't bluetooth only work it open areas? So if i'm hearing u right,if ur pc is in ur house and ur walking home it won't pick the signal because of the walls. I think it's just a weak radio signal that does av it's limitations. But i'm sure someone could explain to u better.

Afraid not.

The phone has a 10 metre range so it has to be within 10 metres of any other device (regardless of the range of the other device) in order to be able to access it.

Therefore it depends on the SHORTEST range of all the devices involved.

Add to that the fact that the range is for "open spaces" and you willr ealise that walls etc affect the range

Just a thought!

any obsticles in the way will reduce (or bounce it in another direction) the signal... and some materials reduce the signal more than others...
