Are you having problems with line 1 or do you just want to find out how to switch lines?

He has probably only access to one line and want to get rid off the "Line 1 icon". Unfortunately I don't think there's an option for it since it's network independent. Your provider probably "support" two lines, but you only "subscribe" to one of them and the network sends a signal indicating that you are using "Line 1".
Sorry, but I don't think there's anything you can do about it - try calling your service provider and ask them why they send out the "Line 1" signal (which makes the icon appear) when you are only subscribing to one line.

@migueltan, i'm also with Smart's network. i only have one line (plus fax and data service) and no line indicator is being displayed on my phone, never since r1b, r1c, r2b, and now r2d. i am not answering your question but rather telling you how it is with my phone on smart's network. i will play with the phone and figure out if i can show the line indicator. |

@migueltan, it seems to me that your subscription with smart has two lines. only in that situation (supposedly) will a line 1/line 2 indicator will appear. to check if you really have a two-line subscription, go to Calls -> Next Call and there should be an option to select which line will be used for the next call. if you don't have that option, then you have a 1-line subscription just like me (fax and data subscription will not show line indicators). if you have a 1-line subscription, then it is weird. maybe a master reset would do, but after you backup your phone settings. |

oh, on my HongKong SIM card i get the same effect.. the stupid line1 icon.. you can't do anything about it.. it's simply because your SIM card allows for two lines..
i think instead of asking about it, you should ask your service provider.. maybe ask them to cancel your line2 or something.. although i'm not sure whether that's possible.. *shrug*
you hafta realize tho, that even tho you're subscribed to only one line, your card still has the capability to have two.. which is why this happens..
