Hi!
I need your support!I am using wap unlimited from orange romania and i couldn't be able to download a file larger than ~220k.I am using a p800,and I need to know if there are some limitations about a maximum file size. It's very important to me to know your opinions.
With apn internet i could downlad a file that had 4.4 mb,but with apn wap i couldn't download anything larger than ~220k.
Thanks for your support!

Orange may have put a limit on your wap apn. Go into your wap settings and set it to connect using orange gprs instead of orange wap gprs. This works on o2 in the uk. I hope this is of help.

WAP or GPRS? WAP servers usually limit file sizes to a few KB... maybe 100 or 200KB or so. This is supposed to be part of the WAP standard to prevent large file sizes since WAP phones aren't made for large pictures or downloads anyway.

GPRS on the other hand should be unlimited. Largest file I ever downloaded using GPRS was about 250MB or so.

I don't get it!
Wap protocol has a limitation regarding a maximum file size or not.I just want to know if this limitation is becouse of wap protocol or they've implemented this limit.
That's why I need to know if is there anyone that could download a file larger than, let's say ~400-500k.
Btw i saw on my-symbian wap page an application that had more than 1mb.

Thank you for answering me
Have you tried to download something larger than ~300k?
I just want to know if it's possible to download larger files via wap protocol and gateway.

for all who don`t get it: this topic is only for p800 p900 users. They can access html with a wap gprs apn!!!!! not an internet one!
In England there is Wap Unlimited from Orange for 4 poundsa month and that`s great for a p800/p900 user who can access html using wap apn.
Get It?
I was able to download on Orange in England 2MB ! @Bogdan u know!
So this must be a limit only for Orange Romania and a few other networks
