Here is a quick video review of the P900 with the Palm wireless keyboard. Recently on PdaGeek a link was posted for a IrDA keyboard driver for the P800/900. The article pretty much tells you about the keyboard but I wanted to post something about how well it worked with the P900. There is no delay in the keyboard and it works well with all aspects of the P900.

Here are some screenshots. They are not great and the video is not great either but at least you get an idea of what its like to use the keyboard.

Here is the short video I made:

Hi

Is this the generic Palm IRDA keyboard.

How did you install the software on the P900... I thought you only get PALM software for this product?

Please advise

There is no official software support for these keyboards, he used my uiq port of the open source series60 driver app developed by Chris Faherty. Both series60 and uiq versions available here:

First off, bowmanP900, thank you so much for porting that driver!!! It has literally become a life saver for me!! I really considered getting a PDA just to type with but your driver allowed me to save bundles. Thank you again! The driver works with the Pocket top wireless keyboard and the Palm Wireless Keyboard I think. I am using the Palm brand wireless keyboard released by Palm with the Palm logo on it.

Thank you so much again bowmanP900!!!

Heh, it is little more than a straight recompile of the s60 driver, anything I couldn't find a mention of in the porting guide or an exact uiq equivalent for I simply removed it's a wonder it worked at all.

And yes the zip contains a regular sis file as well as the source.

I live in the United States and brought my keyboard from CompUsa for 60 dollars. I assume you can get it from the Palm website since it is a palm keyboard if it is not available from a store in your area.

I just got the keyboad yesterday so I am not sure how long the battery last. The keyboard takes 2 triple A batteries . The keyboad comes with two so you will not have to worry about running out to get batteries right away.

Anyone have any recommendations for buying this keyboard in the UK?

I've found this one at the palm store for 60 pounds:

http://www.palmdirect.com/dr/v2/Ec_Main.entry24?SP=10023&PN=1&V1=612612&xid=45007&search_id=15335471&doc_id=1&DSP=&CUR=826&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=81285

which is a bit much if people are only paying 60 dollars for it in the US.

I just bought a palm wireless keyboard, and installed the driver on my P900 from my Mac. I switched on Infrared on my P900 (I chose the PC connect option), lined up the infrared port and then... nothing happened. So I tried the other Infrared option (Modem) and still nothing happened. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

I have P900 and am not that literate in the keyboard drivers that you have offered for download, but which ones (there are 2 at the site) am I supposed to use, or do I have to use both. Is it a straight forward install? Thanks for the great work you guys are doing and am thanking you in advance for the advice. Very much appreciated.

@gbin
Thanks for updating the driver!
Only have one remark. As I am working with a Pocketop keyboard, I notice the following things:
The [LeftFn] functions are not working as I don't have a [LeftFn] button. Is there a Pocketop equivalent?
The Shift + -> and + <- are also not working. Same question as above.

Hope for an answer, 'cause I do like the driver and keyboard.
