Cingular Wireless Internet Express Package |

Does anybody use this? Anyone MMS on Cingular? I'm wondering if the wireless internet package is worth it, since they count per kB and it seems expensive. Unlimited is $74.99 a month and on T-Mobile it is under $10 a month.. what is the difference? |

$74.99 on Cingular $79.99 on AT&T and $19.99 on T-mobile are the exact same thing. $4.99 and $9.99 on T-mobile have ports blocked. On $4.99 you can only use port 80. |

Thanks for the reply! I'm still stuck on Cingular (lured me to stay with the rollover) but I'm dying to switch to T-Mobile. Which carrier do you use? How much data do you typically use in a month? I'm not sure which plan to start up with.
Thanks for clarifying the differences with the T-Mobile, I had no idea the plans were different. |

You need GPRS to use MMS but Cingular doesn't charge you for the kb used in MMS. They charge you for the MMS itself.. I had the GPRS (pay as you use) option just to use MMS and I never was charged for GPRS. Just the MMS itself. |

@RichLok
I just added both MMS & WIX to my Cingular phone... but I can't send MMS because my service Centre isn't defined... did you have to add the settings yourself or was it automatic? The Cingular lady told me that it would be automatic and start working immediately but it doesn't look like my phone is set up with any of the right addresses yet... can u help? =) |

I'm a cingular user too. What is you cellphone? Did you buy it from Cingular or outside? If you bought it outside not with Cingular, then its not automatic. You have to set it up manually. Sometimes customer service don't know what they are talking about. Anyway, if your phone is P800, I may be able to help you. I'm logging out now so just email me @ rraz9228@yahoo.com if you think I can help you otherwise of course you dont. |

Customer Care is totally clueless on the GPRS, WAP and MMS settings... you will get nowhere with them.. you're better off here |

I hear these probs all the time. In order for MMS to work, you need to have not only WIX and the MMS features, but need GPRS, either the pay per use (which will not charge you bytes for using MMS) or one of the packages that give you so many MB's. There is a 4th feature, called data connect. MMS should be added to the account 1st, then the other 3. Keep your phone off when being added. The MMS and GPRS codes will attach to the sim, and you should see the gprs icon. If they attach wrong, MMS will not work. If you still cannot send MMS, get a store to replace the sim, which should be done for free. Not your fault that needs to be replaced, so ask for the manager if necessary.
Did you purchase your phone from Cingular? If so, should have all the gateways and service center #'s preinstalled. If not, search esato, should be here, including "photo messaging." |

Although cingular does have rollover, T-Mobile is still the best overall value for everything included (Internet, SMS, MMS, Minutes, ext.). Sorry you are stuck with cingular for a while, i wish you could enjoy T-Mobile like many of us do.

T-Mobile now offers free access to port 80 (www & wap) to all voice customers. There are also rumors that you can access pop3, imap and smtp.

Nope. No MMS or GPRS, or even WAP, with prepaid. |
