Problem with wap.voicestream.com via GSM
Hi ,

Anyone in New York with voicestream having problem with accessing the wap.voicestream.com site via GSM and GPRS

I was able to connect via GSM (dial in) 4/24/02. However I am having problem today. I tried the wap.yahoo.com via GPRS and it work. However yahoo via GSM did not work. I followed the procedure posted here. Yesterday, GSM worked -- anyone know what has happened ??

Thanks.....

I also live in New York with Voicestream and I was wondering if using GSM (dial-up) costs money except for the minutes used, thanks.

I often have problems with the WAP gateway at voicestream. Sometimes I can't connect at all, other times I get the ubiquitous "Error from wap gateway: requested object not found" or something to that effect - basically tells me their DNS is screwed.

GPRS in NYC is also a challenge. I have a hard time getting a connection in manhattan, yet as SOON as I hit the lincoln tunnel, i'm good to go for as long as I want.

Since it's new technology, I expect growing pains though.

having awful problems connecting to the gateway in NY and the voicestream people in the US span the gamut from rude to useless. (the UK people are great, btw.) only way I can connect to wap is by shutting down the phone, rebooting, dialing 611 to be recognized by the network, and then logging in to the wap gateway.

next time I try -- even 2 minutes later -- gotta repeat the entire process over again.

and, I've never been able to log onto the non-wap gateway (internet2.voicestream.com). not once.

I think it's just a lousy service.

nyc manhattan here. just got my T68i. have so many problems learning to use GPRS and WAP. Help! Anyone willing to chat on the phone to try to help each other in dealing with Voicestream (useless people!)?

It's exhausting trying to work with the Voicestream people.

There aren't even instruction manuals on what to do!

please email me directly to: eieio@nyc.rr.com

many thanks.

The correct url for the voicestream homepage is wap.MYvoicestream.com (in lower case, i am just pointing out not to leave the \"my\" out).

I am convinced that the problem is with the Voicestream gateway.

Check out the thread on public gateways. I used one of those this afternoon (the Ericsson gateway) and was able to connect no problem.

eieio: I'll send you an email. Drop me a line back and I will try to help you as best I can.
