Hi guys. A friend of mine recently bought a 6610. The thing is that the Nokia Aplication used to send midis to his phone also converts them and they end up sounding like crap on his phone, i.e. you can barely recognize the melody. Is there another software that I can use to send files to his phone (like our SendFile)?

Thanks a bunch,

Just use IR or what are you doing. Standard midis are supposed to work on it, aren't they? Just send the midi you want to the phone without using nokia converter. Or what am I missing?

@Universal Exports: that's what any SE user would do, right? That's what I did, doo. Eh, surprise, surprise! The damn phone doesn't allow ANYTHING to be sent to it unless it uses Nokia software. That's pure crap!!! And that's not all. It generally only allows 4 channles - and its instrument bank is close to nothing! The large majority of the instruments are not recognized bi the converter so they show up in red. So imagine how the midis sound on it!

P.S. You know, I start wondering where the Nokia advocates on Esato are! They always bitch about Nokia being the best, but now that I have a real situation that puts their beloved Nokia in a not so favorable light, none of the little rats is to be found!!!

Ignoring the Nokia's midi limitations, just answering the original question, can't you use www.euploader.com to transfer the midi files?

Of course, you need to use the Nokia Sound Converter properly! Plain & Simple. I've used it many times with my old 7210 and didnt have any problem! I'm happier with my N-Gage that supports all types of midi though, but better than that, mp3 as ringtones (something has yet to discover...)

Anyway, the 6610 doesnt support General midi files, but only Scalable Polyphony Midi (SP-Midi) files, hence general midi files have to be converted, using the Nokia Sound Converter (or any other SW that does the same thign) . The underlying reason is that the Midi files sent via MMS are in SP-Midi format, not in General Midi format.

I wasn't aware that the P800 can use mp3 as ringtones. *.wav, yes. *mp3, no.

So, what you should have said:

My point was that Nokia (N-Gage, 3300) had phones that could assign mp3 as a ringtone way before SE (P900).

And try to play multiplayer games over GPRS network with P900. So, we can say that N-Gage rules in games and P900 works better as a PDA.
