So I got a MS bluetooth enabled desktop combo for christmas this year...mouse and keyboard with a dongle that (as far as the box is concerned) is "...the only bluetooth dongle you will ever need..."

Installation went smoothly, keyboard and mouse got connected right away - happy sailing. Next up I tried to connect my T68i.

Download all the software from the ericsson site, paired the phone up, launched the software....and nothing.....
no COM ports being used by the phone?

Turns out (after 48 hours of searching through the net) that Microsoft has not implemented more than three basic profiles for its USB dongle: HID, Printing and Dial up support!

Frustrated by the sheer lack of information from big ol Microsoft (a whopping 8 paragraphs worth of information across just as many pages) I decided on a lark to hook the whole mess up to my lowly, 450Mhz PowerMac G4 Cube running OSX 10.3.

Guess what? Except for not being able to customize the keyboard mappings the whole mess works like a charm! I can type, use the mouse, sync my phone, send graphics back and forth and use bluetooth to initiate calls on the cell phone!

Why oh WHY do I keep thinking it makes more sense to start using the PC on a daily basis?

Kudos to Apple for a flawless Bluetooth implementation - and shame to MS for outright LYING to its customers.

Win XP SP2 will provide full support. Meanwhile, use the Widcomm software 1.4.*.*

They didn't lie. They never said that it currently supports protocols other than keyboard/mouse. But support for those protocols is coming and already out in beta testing. So it WILL be the dongle you'll ever need. LOL.

Why you want to use your PC? Because you don't want to pay near-monopolized prices for everything.
