My CD-Rewriter broke down and i need to replace it.
Is the correct method?
1.Removing the old CD-Rewriter
2.Deleting the old driver
3.Installing the new CD-Rewriter
4.Installing the new driver |

Don't worry about the drivers . The system will reconfigure itself automatically. Make sure the burning software recognizes the new drive properly. Also check the jumpers on the drive and, if needed, use an appropriate IDE cable (80 conductor cable if the new drive is UDMA 66 or higher) - you may already have it installed. Why didn't you go for a DVD+RW drive?

Just turn off your PC and replace the drive with new one. Windows will do the rest. Do not forget to enable DMA.

DMA is Direct memory Access
(DMA) A facility of some architectures which allows a peripheral to read and write memory without intervention by the CPU. DMA is a limited form of bus mastering.
