Hi all,

I've bought a T-Mobile T610 at the US, had it unlocked and I'm using it in Brazil with a local service provider.

The point is, I want to get rid of the T-Mobile customizations and I want to install the latest firmware available (with support to portuguese if possible).

The guy at the SE service centre told me that all phones sold by T-Mobile will only accept T-Mobile customized firmware. He said also that SE cellphones have some kind of region locking, and you can only install the region specific firmware. Is all this true? Is there anything I can do about that?

Does anybody know if the SE warranty is global? I mean, do I have the rights to update the firmware here in Brazil even if I bought the phone in the US?

Thanks in advance,

Giovani

yes, a T-Mobile branded T610 can only be updated with T-Mobile firmware if you visit a servicepoint, this since the updatesystem checks what type of firmware the phone has.

warranty is global yes, but local restrictions may occur, so check with your dealer/support first.

Thanks Cytech.

Is it some king of hardware checking?
If not, I would be able to somehow replace the firmware, right?
Isn't there any way? What would be steps to replace the firmware?

I can't send mms messages because the phone only has the option to send via the damn t-zones.
This is just on among the other annoying things. There must be a way...

Previously it was based on imei number. Don't know if they have changed it with newer phones. You could change the language pack during flash if your imei was in the language package wo wanted.

it checks the CDA number to determine which customized firmware to use, T-Mobile, Vodafone, ordinary firmware etc...

What is the CDA number? Is it changeable?
