My six year old md walkman died. Know I am looking for an alternative. Does anyone have either the Ericsson MP3 player or that new Mp3/BT headset?

I primarily will use it for running - would anyone have experience with comfort, suitability etc?

Right now I am looking on ebay to find myself a nice cheapo ericsson mp3 player (have to find the right drivers for XP right?). But if i can't find anything like that, Id be replacing my md player with those new net md players but as the BT/MP3 headset is pretty much around the similar price to that of the Net MDs, I might as well have a look at that too...

TIA

I have the HPM-10 and it's excellent. Works fine with my T610 and sound quality is superb.

If you get one though you'll want to get a bigger MMC card than the 32Mb one you get with the player.

I'd go for the ipod if you're content with your t610 and are willing to spend a few bucks.
Really a great device.

The great style of the ipod would really go with the t610, but its a shame that they are so expensive

The problem with the mp3 handsfree things, is that there isnt much room for storage, so you cant listen to music for like 10hours without songs repeating

personally i would go for a netMD cos they are cheap, extra media for them is cheap, and they store loads of music

someone tried a bigger one and it didn't work. I would get an mp3 player (you can get ones cheaper without such a large anount of memory, or a cd mp3 player like an i river)

and a skull candy link up between the two. they sell them at mobilefun.co.uk

happy listenin

Can someone give me more info about this adaptor?
I have a 64 and 128mb MMC card; would the 64 only work then? Since I carry them about with me abit anyway it wouldn't be a problem; I'd only be using it for short journeys on the bus and stuff, for anything bigger I'd fill up my 512mb CF card (and other 512mb of random MMC/SD/CF cards) and listen to them on my pda.
But anyway; is the mp3 player controlled by the phone? (volume and selection) and does the mp3 player do directories and/or tags or just filenames?
Cheers all

(I have a t68i, but my 610 is in the post; hopefully to arrive in around 6 hours)

@ TheGlassJaw and generationgav

I have a 128Mb MMC card and it works just fine with my HPM-10. I didn't have to reformat the card or anything, it worked straight out of the packet. The brand of card I have is Integral Memory, bought from Expansys.

Expansys will soon be stocking 256Mb and 512Mb MMC cards. They've already said that the HPM-10 will NOT support the 512Mb card. However, reports on whether the 256Mb card will work differ. Some people that have posted on the Expansys support forum say it works fine, but the official line is that it doesn't work.

The HPM-10 is controlled by the phone for volume, bass, treble and track selection. The only button on the player itself is to answer calls. Only filenames of the songs are displayed.

Go for a Net MD !!! 5 hours of music on one mini disc and it cost only 1/2€ per md. Great sound quality and fast to transfer

Creative Rhomba is certainly a nice mp3 player (though probably not the cheapest you can find )
I certainly don't see any reason to buy a portable audio player that is bound to your phone

My ericsson mp3 player is a pain in the ass. Shoddy connectors so it only works when it feels like it. I have to wedge cardboard between the connectors sometimes. Maybe the newer one is better. I havnt used mine for ages for this reason. Dunno how it will take being bounced around when u jog. Id try the new se mp3 player 2c if its better quality. But would go for an mp3 Or md player.

Yeah that's the only downside with the HPM-10 - the connection to the phone is poor.

Thanks all!!!

Gonna buy that HPM-10. Checked the expansys.com.au site and they're selling it for AUD60. Can't beat that i reckon. It will suit the whole running and gym thing.

Will still need a MD replacement. Although I love both the Ipod and HPM-30 to death (Except for their price tag ), I'll later on get a NetMD. Maybe when they get a 'wee bit cheaper. Addicted to the whole MD flexibility *also my hifi has MD* Then all i need are geekie mike glasses and tickets to the big day out

Hopefully by the time I can deal with shelling out money for a NetMD hopefully they might have a NetMD bluetooth headset
