I have a laptop without a 9-pin serial port. I purchased a USB to Nokia 3310 data cable but I find that the Oxygen Software does not recognise the phone.

What can i do to remedy the situation?

Do I need drivers for the cable and, if so, where can i find them?

Or can I set up the cable simple by selecting the correct (but unknown to me) port?

I would greatly appreciate your help.

many thanks

What operating system do you use? USB will only work with Win98 SE onwards as far as i remeber.

If you plug the USB lead into the computer while it is running it should come up with a box saying new hardware found and then you should be able to install any drivers if needed off your cd.

I'm sorry I forgot the important data.

The laptop has a P4 2.4GHz CPU with 512MB memory. The OS is Windows XP Home. I have both USB1 and USB2 porst which work correctly with all my other hardware (floppy, scanner, card reader, printer and external hard drive).

I now think that I need virtual com ports driver for the USB lead.
