How big is the change that a software upgrade will fail? |

I got everything (GPRS, POP3, SMTP, WAP) working now on my T68i, so I don't really need to flash it with R2B025, but on the other hand, I just want the new software.
But how big is the chance that an upgrade will fail? And what happens if it fails; can I get a new phone right away, can they flash it again, or do I have to send my phone somewhere? |

If it fails, they'll replace ur phone if its still under warranty.

And if they don't have T68i's in stock? |

I got my R520m flashed 5 times. It failed once (in that the phone restarts on its own all the time) after the upgrade. They gave me a replacement couple hours later(that was in Austria), but this new phone exhibited the same problem. Got it flashed again in Canada to a newer version and problem solved.
So they can flash the phone again if it fails (I know someone else had a similar problem as mine and he got it flashed again with the same version-i.e. not upgrade, and it was fine afer). They will also replace it if needed. |

You'll go without your T68i until they can find one!
I am also amazed how they can find a replacement for my R520m with the same manufactured date in 3 hours. Or could it be that they printed a new warranty label on the spot? The serial number of the new phone is a lot higher than my old one, though - 78038 to be exact. There is no way they make that many units in a week. Even if there is a check digit, 7800+ units in a week?

A replacement phone is 9 out of 10 times a reconditioned phone (it looks new, but it's actually an old broken phone which has been fixed). The typically thing to see if it is a reconditioned phone (or swap unit as it's called) is the R-number (for example R2103P, meaning it's reconditioned in week 10, year 2002). When a phone is reconditioned it's fixed with parts from several phones, meaning it can have the IMEI-number from an old phone, which has been manufactured at a totally different week than the label says. |

doubleduh > I personally never encountered any "failed upgrade".
And I've had all the upgrades possible on T-39, T68m and T68i
One thing that can make the upgrade "fail", is if the service point do the upgrade "online".
Meaning that they dont download the new SW, before upgrading.
My service point always do upgrades "off-line". Thats the main reason, I think, for not failing it

Get the upgrade! Backup your phone first and get the upgrade.
The R2B025 is VERY good! R2A014 is full of bugs. It handles the memory very badly. If you record some voice it will overwrite some of your words in T9 and screw it all up!
Also T9 is very fast in R2B025. I can't find eZiText anywhere though. I dont think that the popup window is eZiText. It is just a way to show the possible words to choose from. |

I just got my HBH-10 sw upgraded recently. The sp told me this sw upgrade can only be done "on-line" and there were a couple of failed upgrades before me.
since the upgrade, the HBH-10 works fine, the only problem i have had is that the secret sw probe function does not work anymore. I can no longer check the software version.
