everyone, beware of someone going by the name edward tan. normally i wouldn't trust someone i haven't met, and send them money but i got to "know" this guy before i bought anything from him. i talked to him on instant messenger for a couple days before any agreement was met. he is from hong kong and was using the email address outtogetya@hotmail.com. he told me that he had just moved back to hong kong from boston to be with his mother who was in declining health. he gained my trust and i got burned. if anyone has any info on this guy let me know. his esato screenname is Reallme.

@getagrip15,
I just did a quick check & read all of @reallme's posts, he only posted 10 times on hear & ALL his posts were about money, some desperate to sell a P800 & some desperate to buy one,
PLEASE check things like this when deciding to enter into financial transactions with people, same as you would/should on Ebay, click on the users "profile", then "Veiw all posts by this user" it takes 1 minute to get a fairly good idea of a person, also you can PM people who have done deals in the past to ask them if he is honest.

Finally 99% of REGULAR Esato members are by default nice trustworthy people, post counts is a good guage to use in future, also, the nearer people live to you, the more you can risk trusting them.

On MSNC they interviewed a guy that does these types of scams on a regular basis. They will email you and gain you're trust and tell you a sob story to reel you in, when they get you're money you wont hear back from them again unless to let you know that they shipped the product and sorry it took so long when in truth they did not.

If you have not done so report it to the authorities and ebay if applicable.

I am sorry to hear about that. But things like this happen all the time, and the only thing to do is to in to the police to see what they will do... Maybe they can't do anything but it is worth an try... That is what i do if it happens to me... Remember to take copys of all deals you make on the net, and if you get any e-mails from the deal show them to the police but remember to enable the header function becourse they hold a lot of info that can be usede to trace him with...

I use a hotmail account as I would never reveal my personal email account to anybody, apart from family and close friends. That is why I have never had a virus on my PC and also why I never get any spam. my hotmail account that i do use for any online registrations, including esato gets on average 50 shite e-mails per day. I have set it up so all mail goes to the junk folder if they are not in my approved list. In doing so I "dont" get any spam in my inbox either...

What I do after registering on a site and the confirmation email gets sent, I add the sender to my list of approved addresses and then copy/paste the email in a new mail and send to my personal email address.

Personally I dont care what people think of my hotmail account, I use it to protect myself. On the other hand, people that uses AOL...

To get back to the main topic, sorry to hear about that my friend, I suppose the only "good" thing you get out of this is the lesson that you have learned out of this shitty experience.

Quite an experience there mate ! That's why I never, ever make transactions via online. Better make a 'fas-a-fas' deal next time, deals done/made and delivered via couriers are really a waste of money - at times - being caught red handed ! Good Luck next time . . . I just wonder when will my shipment from UK/Germany going to arrive (2) pcs of mmcs . . . . . . hope soon !
