Man, this blows...we are finally on the same page as the rest of the world. Will we ever give up the yard for the meter, quart for the liter? Anyway, to anybody in the USA who is interested in the fabulous t68 from At&t BEWARE because At&t sucks in Chicago in particular. They make it out like everthing is ready to go, but it is far from and it may take an hour to talk to technical support. Oh, they'll fill out a work ticket and get back to you in 5 business days if you can be available at their convenience. I got my phone on 31/3/02 and I couldn't receive calls for 7 days, previously I had had so much confidence in the company that I had no land line. Some WAP sites work with GPRS, some don't...I can recieve email but I can't send them. I can't even use online customer support because the GSM/GPRS account is completely separate from the TDMA account, and you have to have GSM service for one month before you can even log into customer help. Anyway, SE says the t68i software upgrade will be available to USA in June with details forthcoming in May. So, to any potential GSM customers in USA for At&t, I'd see what others say about Voicestream or Cingular because AT&T has a lot of bugs to work on...Thanks for letting me vent my frustration. Peace.

I am using VoiceStream. I have not had any problems and I can get service almost anywhere. I would switch but I heard that AT&T locks the phones to their sims so you would have to get it unlocked or get another phone. I am using a T68i.

Try to Send your phone to Ericsson ...for a flash or some similar issue....and hopefully they get it unlocked while they flash it...but I am not sure.....just give it a try....Call Ericsson...
once you have it unlocked....you can use it for Voicestream...which is a great service...

I've had my T68 for about 2 or 3 months now with Voicestream and I have had no problems with it, its reception is great in New York City. I would give AT&T a few months (maybe even years) to work out all their GSM bugs first before even considering to sign with them. BTW what are the WAP settings for the T68 with Voicestream and is it with the iStream service?

Yeah, you have to sign up for the istream service, then they email you all the settings. I got it, it's only $2.99 a month and works pretty good. I only really use it to go to this wap site, know of any other good wap sites?

I know what you mean about AT&T with the T68. It just became available in March here in Portland, OR. It took ten days before I could make/receive any calls. The manual that came with the phone does not match up with the phone that I received. I have been trying to key in a ringtone (Scotland the Brave) and it says that you can bring up a piano keyboard by pushing the volume key up, but nothing shows up. I can't get anything to work on this phone. If anyone can help me with keying in this ringtone, please let me know. I have been searching the web for weeks now and can not find anyone who will work in the US with T68. I heard that I could use my Voicestream sim card with the T68 but it doesn't work! I have heard that Voicestream is going to carry the T68 in June, but I can't get Voicestream to confirm that. Hopefully it will be soon and it will be better than AT&T. Please help if anyone can.

Thanks!!

Celtic, I'm not sure about how accurate my answers are, but I do know that only the T68i (or T68m with the mms upgrade) has the piano key interface for entering ringtones, so the manual you recieved with the phone might be a T68i manual in disguise? As for using a AT&T T68 phone with Voicestream, I know for sure that you need to get the phone unlocked because AT&T GSM has locked all their GSM phones so that they only work with AT&T SIM cards. So you'll have to get your T^* unlocked so it will work with Voicestream.

Micro,

Thanks for the info. I kind of thought that was the case. There are quite a few things in the manual that don't match up with the phone! I can still compose ringtones though. If you know of any one who has the key sequence (or a web site that works with T68) for Scotland the Brave, I would appreciate it!

Thanks, you've helped alot!

i'm not sure how will that work. t68 is pretty new in the market and i think the unlocking solutions are not yet available. maybe sometime in the future but not as of now. that's why people are paying ALOT MORE money for unlocked phones because they don't even know where to get the lock phones unlocked. peaceouttz
