you may lose sms and I think counters are reset but all pics, ringtones, contacts etc are not affected.

You should do a back upp of your phone before you take the uppgrade, cuz the service centre dont take any responsibility for the stuff you have on the phone. But the chanses of loosing annything is wherry wherry smal

yez i am shure there is a werry small chance of losing annything but it is still there. why else would the service centre ask if you have done a backupp everytime you do a uppgrade. Personally i aint affraid that will happen and i dont say you dont should uppgrade.

I'm a bit annoyed as I have upgraded mine to R3C002 this morning. I still have this crappy Vodafone icons and restrictions, meaning that I still cannot delete those crappy photos.
Apparently if the device was configured by Vodafone you can only upgrade to their version.
I thought afterwards this could be because the phone is locked to the Vodafone network. Any input on this theory?
Will it help if I pay 10 quid to have the phone unlocked from one of those street vendors and then reinstall the upgrade.
I went to a SE Service Centre and they do not do any unlockings. |

Unlocking the phone will make no difference but have a read of the Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style) which points to a couple of topics regarding getting rid of the branding.

I had a look at the "Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style)" but I could not really get the answers that I wanted.
I followed a link to anoter posting about this issue and according to the posts over there, I'm stuffed as the Vodafone crap will always come back.
What's the difference between flashing the phone and upgrading the firmware, or is it the same thing?
PS. I went to Yendell Comms in Addlestone this morning and when the lady tried to update the firmware it did not accept it. I then told her it is vodafone and she then had to sellect their update. |

flashing and upgrading or both terms for transferring firmware to the phone so yeah, they mean the same thing.
Some people do report with upgrades the vodafone firmware returns, and others dont'. I guess the best you can do is not upgrade unless you really have to once you have removed the vodafone stuff.
Yendell is where I get all my updates and they are a great bunch and I never had a problem. I introduced the guy there to Esato last time I was there while I waited for my firmware upgrade.

just curious with all those vodafone stuff.....
when u purchase the phones from them, is it cheaper than market rate within the country. ie... is vodaphone bearing some cost. are they any contracts etc.
is not...... then it's very **** for them to like hardwire all those stuff. imagine buying a sony clie with 64mb but 60mb are loaded with **** stuff. it's a ripoff, wouldn't it?

nothing important, just wanna tell my story.
i went to SE services centre last nite around 7pm.
they told me they needed more the 2hours to upgrade firmware! but they close at 8pm. so they wanted me to collect the next day.....
right now i m still holding my t610.....withthe old R1a firmware!
& i realized i can't live without it for a nite!! how absurd.
i'll try again later..... before 5pm.

as I mentioned earlier I have been through each upgrade on the T610 and none took more than 15 mins.

i understand. it got to do with the level of service they offer.
u know it took more that 2 days to switch a phone line from analog to digital (for adsl broadband). i could really happened is those technicians were drinking coffee/tea/coke/others til the last minute before they flip the switch (no offence, take it with a pinch of salt)
unless there are soooo many damaged SE products, i dun really c the "Q" to get things flushed. maybe they state 2 hours because they dun need to rush, or in case s**t happens.
well.... different places have different rule of thumb. just glad it's free. not much to complain. but thanks a lot, masseur. |
