Hi to all fellow Esatoians I need your help:
I currently use a T300 and do not have a PDA. I do however have a laptop with built in WiFi and WinXP. But I plan to get either a Z600 + Palm Tungsten T3 or a P900 to help me get my work done on days i don't want to bring along my laptop. I have no bluetooth on my Laptop so should i get the MSI dongle for use with the (Z600 + Tungsten T3 or P900) ?
The price for either choice is roughly the same i guess. I NEED to work with alot of WORD, EXCELL and POWERPOINT files as i am a university student doing engineering. I also surf the net alot to read forums and review of gadgets... check email... In a nutshell, i read a lot. My laptop can be used for watching animations online. I have never used a PDA before so i am new to the Palm OS, Symbiam OS and PPC OS. I did play with the p900 yesterday for about and hour and the z600 for about an hour too. The p900 is quite user friendly as i got the hang of things very fast. I love the Z600 too. I think i can live with out the video cam if i choose the z600 and t3... but being able to record videos wouldn't hurt either ... I have a few questions too... Please help me out !! Thanks
PALM
------
What do you think about the palm OS and what is your experience with it.
Can u surf the net and view any website with the T3? Do error mesages pop up frequently ?
Is graffiti 2 really that bad ? I've heard many -ve things about it...
What are the pros and cons about choosing the Z600 and the TT3 ?
Are there any compatibility issues between PALM OS and WINXP ? i.e file format... converting files ...blah blah blah... ?
I've heard the PALM OS is plain and BORING... true ?
P900
---------
Can quick office really offer all or most of the features i would need to edit a WORD or EXCELL file? It doesn't do POERPOINT rite ? another downside to the p900.
Can u surf the net and view any website with Opera ? Most of u guys don't use the browser right ? Do error mesages pop up frequently ? Does it support frames ?
Is the OS stable ?
Are there any compatibility issues between the P900 and WINXP ? i.e file format... converting files ...blah blah blah... ?
What are the pros and cons about choosing the P900 ?
Please help me decide people !! I am going mad I want the P900 because it has video recording and it is ONE device, no hassle of two devices. But i also want the z600 and t3 combo because it has more firepower and the t3's screen is way bigger than the p900's... and as a friend put it, the z600 is a babe magnet
Ps: I've checked the XDA II but its too bulky and its price is crazzy !
Thanks in advance people, for all the help

I'm a current Palm user. But eventually I'd like to replace my T610 + HBH-30 + Palm combo.
What I can tell you is that you don't have to contend with Palm's graffiti. You can always get a folding full-size keyboard. Palm has this new IR keyboard that's easy to connect, no more fumbling with catches and locks. Logitech even has one that doubles as a carrying case for your Palm.

And, what locks and stuff are u talking about
Thanks mate

Sorry, I have a slow internet connection. I don't have the links to the sites.
Anyway, when you're using a seperate keyboard for your Palm, it should first be attached to each other via the port at the bottom of your T/T2/T3. To be sure that the connection is secure, the PDA should be locked into place. That is why there is a provision for this in all the potable keyboards for PDA's. In Palm's new IR keyboard, there is no need for this, just place the Tungsten on the holder and start typing away.
Look for Palm's Wireless Keyboard here:

And like I said in my previous post, I intend to replace my current combo for the same reason that you stated.
Anyway, congrats for winning the playtime.

Is there a reason why you have not included pocketpc in your list of choices?
I found graffiti quite intuitive when I used various palms I had before pocketpc but I use caligrapher on pocket pcs and it is equal or better as you can write whole words that it recognises very well.

Oopss... forgot to mention why i left out PPC. Its because i've heard many bad things about PPPC such as how often it crashes/frezes and threat of viruses and how it always eats up resources ... I like to multitask... So is it true, these bad points about the PPC ?
Oh yeah, one more advantage of getting a PDA over the P900 is because the PDA can recognise a word rather than just alphabets ... makes it evn harder to choose ...

I have been using PPC since the very first iPaq and I can honestly say that I have never experienced one of those problems you mention though I am sure if you install some of the crap shareware thats out there you may well hit problems.
But I treat my iPaq as I do my laptop and never install anything just for the hell of it. I always research for feedback on a product I am interested in and generally stick with 'known' products. In this way I keep my machines stable and realiable.
You should definitly not exclude ppc from your options

@All, thank u for being so helpful so far
@masseur, Ok, I'll have a look at those two that U suggested. My friend offered me a H5450 but i went to Cnet.com and read the review and te user coments... they were not too happy... So i decided not to get it from my friend.
@lazarini, what is the difference between the normal dongle the key version ? Do U have a pic of the normal dongle? What is the diference in price ? I haven't actually seen pics of the dongle but just read about it in the forums only...
Once again, thank u all for your input and time
