I heard it with my own ears!
According to the advert on the telly, "This Christmas at Carphone Warehouse, ALL pay monthly camera phones are FREE"
Hmm - we shall see!

Its "from free" and yes you can get the P900 for free if you have a £100 a month contract from CPW |

Nothing in the Terms & Conditions says you have to stay on that tariff for ANY lenth of time, so an imediate downgrade gets you the phone for £110 + 11 months at £15 = £275.

i'm sure it says on their website you need to stick with the higher tariff for 4 months... |

@grex, Show me where.....
Onestopphoneshop says that, but CPW doesn't, nor does Orange.

@pachy i'll have a look when i'm next on the net and i'll get back to you. i'm sure most shops will tie you in to a minimum term though. |

@Grex, obviously they don't advise their sales team to talk about it, they will tell you 3 or even 6 months, but the actual truth is, no minimun term applies to CPW, i checked very carefully & rang & asked the Terms & Conditions staff, no period exists, look on your contract reciept & it wont even say your monthly payment commitment, just that your on an Orange plan for 12 months, they told me they can't implement a minimum term because Orange don't have anything in THEIR terms & conditions. CPW will still have to cover the cost of the handset but can't legally pass it on to the customer.

@pachy not arguing mate, i may well be wrong. so, what you're saying is, i could go into cpw, get a p900 for free, then downgrade the tariff to a £15 per month one the same/next day? sounds great, it just doesn't make commercial sense... |

Theyre probably relying on the customer not being too aware of that.

Hi Guys...........
Guess what, I work at CPW....and I regret to tell ya you're not completely wrong, but not completely right either.
Yes, you can get the handset free, on Your Plan 1000, £97,00 a month.
And right again, it does not say anywhere on your contract that you have to stay on that tariff for a certain period of time, but we were advised that as of 1 August, you had to retain a tariff for 6 months before you could switch down to a lower tariff.
T-Mobile also does not include the period of time on their contracts either, but I can tell you that is definitely set at 6 months as of 1 June, due to people abusing the backdoor of getting a good phone cheaper - but hey, who would'nt right? I say this just to prove that all the networks have tightend up on this policy, so be wary of it.
And its not that we would try to keep you on the higher tariff, it has nothing to do with us at all, and we have no benefit from you staying on the higher tariff, but we can only advise you on what we've been told, and that is that you can only change after 6 months, although like I said before, I could be terribly wrong. I have an Orange contact since February, but this was before the new rulings came into play, so I can still change my tariff every month.
Anyway, thats all I gotta say for now.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

nahh, you CAN get the p900 on 1000 and get the handset for free, then downgrade after the first month, orange dont' tie you down for a minimum period for your tariff and carphonewarehouse don't know whether the customer moves down tariff's or not, carphonewarehouse are the phone dealers, orange are the network providers, changing tariffs are network related queries

correction mate, I post facts, not stories.
Last I time I checked, my name wasn't Hans Christian Andersan!
Thats true Nk8, we don't know when the customer changes their tariff, cos that has nothing to do with us at all, but we advise customers on what we've been trained on, so if they wanna take out a £97 plan, on the assumption that they can change the tariff, and if they can't......
well......I would think that they'd be just a leeeetle bit peed off!
Thats because as far as I know, T-Mobile and Orange have changed their rulings on changing tariffs, but I think Orange 3 months rather than 6
