im not sure the network of the z1010 would work here i supose cyngular is a 1900 network (and probably all the nort america networks) that's maybe why sonyericsson hasn't annunce it in the coming soon section, like in uk or other european countries, if u want a good clamshell phone try the z600 it's a great all features phone and its aviable in usa |

Z1010 is currently spec'd as dual band 900/1800mhz so if you have a carrier that supports those there will be no problem |

I think that it supports only UMTS/900/1800mhz networks,so if you have operator that is using one of them you can use it.

Spectrum 900 and 1800 are not available for GSM in the United States.

The avaiable GSM frequencies in use in the US at the moment is 850 and 1900. Apart from UMTS the Z1010 only works in 900 and 1800 mhz. However, I am sure that they will have a quad-band phone like the Z1010 available very soon because the biggest focus group in SE marketing are travelling business people.
It would be great if they made a last minute change and released the Z1010 as a quad-band phone wouldn't it?

As it looks now, the Z1010 will work on T-Mobile USAs UMTS network. However, by the time T-Mobile has launched UMTS here in the US the Z1010 will have grown grey hair.
At the moment 3G phones are not very exciting as the networks are extremely limited and unreliable. If I lived in Europe I would definitely glance at the Z1010 but here in the US I don't even bother putting a thought to any true 3G phones.

Just wanted to add that T-Mobile USA has no clue to when they will or if they will launch their 3G network.
Lets hope AT&T and Cingular will be more progressive.

I beg to differ. I have had very good signal with GSM phones in the US.....unless you live in any of the square states.

I have the Z600 under Cingular and I would suddenly lose all reception and network ability from time to time. But when I take the sim card and put it in another phone that I bought under Cingular, SE T616, it's got full reception.
Is it because the phone is bad? or the band isn't fully 900/1900 on cingular network?
I'm in Philly, Pa. Thanks. |

the difference between t616 and Z600 is that the T616 supports the new 850 mhz band. I'd make an eductated guess that that is what causes your reception to increase on the T616
