Hi ppl!

Just wondered, I want to fix my slider on my T68i, (it got given to me broken). I have the equipment (screwdriver, low volt soldering iron etc.) I want to know how I get to the main board contacts on the main board. Some pictures would be nice? Please don't say Take it to a SE centre" coz I want to do it if it is possible!

Cheers

I assume you mean the volume button...

remove the front cover according to http://www.cellexwireless.us/services/faceplatechange.htm

then remove the four screws on the PCB... the display is a snap-on thing so it's easy to remove.

Before starting to solder or do anything else, check so that the contact pads on the PCB underneath the volumeswitch are ok, when the volumebutton gets broken it's very often that it rips the volumeswitch of the board including the pads making it impossible to fix.

BUT !!! Most of the T68's i fixed only needed a new slider poping into place, with no reason to strip the phone down.
Reminder; milk, sugar, crisps, post letter.

Hi all!

Ive took the thing apart (and put it back together!) and all works again (mic as well). The slider part itself seems to be alright and the contacts are clean on the boards and slider. Should I go ahead and solder it? I don't want to break the phone because it was a good free gift!!! Please Advise!

just be careful... don't use to much heat or the pads will come loose from the board.
