Where exactly is the infra-red port on the T610? Also is it possible to transfer data from my SE to a Nokia 6100 which has infra red connectivity?

Whenever I try and transfer data it says no connection found. Both IR are turned on so its either non compatible or we are not lining the IR ports up properly

nok ir has compaibility issues with almost EVERY electronic gadgets which has an ir port, to the extend data cannot be shared at all even with other nok models......

however, i haf been able to transfer only vCards between and nok but it does take some time as sometimes it works and sometimes it dun....if u are planning to ir contacts, i suggest u copy to sim and then transfer to the other phone...much quicker that way...if u r thinking of sharing ringtones and pix.....u might as well give up now.....

Here's a link to a picture I posted a little while ago, showing where the i/r transceiver is on the T610: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=39141&forum=2#post526972

As already said though, it's quite likely that you're simply experiencing compatability issues with the Nokia.

Phone manufacturers should not compromise connectivity of these sort.

It was really fraustrating when i bought a nokia, as it cannot connect to my other phones(SE) and vice versa; too late in the day when i found that out, end up giving the Nokia phone to my brother.

i think nokia have disabled the ability to transfer pics and ringtones via IR.
means you have to download them via wap or cable them across. seems really stupid to me..

Yep, i've tried se ir to nokia ir and it always fails, even when i try sendingpics via ir from a mac to nokia it fails. It says not irmc(or similar) compatible. Just do it over bluetooth instead.

Does it work over bluetooth then? Seems a bit pointless disabling picture and sound exchange via irda if you can exchange via bluetooth. I guess thats nokia for you!

Transfer of pics and tones is possible only on series 60 phones i.e. 3650, 7650, 6600, etc. On series 40, only b cards! crippled! ;-)
