Here is a guide to setting up a POP3 e-mail service on your shiny T68 using a standard (non-GPRS) data connection.

1. Under the connect menu, select 'Data comm.' then 'Data Accounts' then 'Add acount'. You need to set up a data dial-up for your ISP to get your e-mails through POP3.
2. Put in all the settings for your ISP. Mine (for Freeola) are...
Phone Number: 08451121400
User id: your regular internet logon ID
Password: your regular password
Passwd request: off
Data Rate: 9.6kbit/s
Dial type: analogue
DNS address: left at default '...'

3. Now go into the 'Messages' menu, then 'Options' then 'E-mail'

4. 'Add new account' then set it up.
Here are my settings, just change them to your ISP's..
Connect Using: Select the dial-up profile that you have just created
POP3 server: mail.freeola.net (for incoming mail)
POP3 port: 110 (that's default anyway)
Mailbox: your e-mail username, probably the same as your logon username
Password: your e-mail password, probably the same as your logon password
SMTP server: smtp.freeola.net (for outgoing mail)
SMTP port: 25 (default)
e-mail address: The address that you want messages you send to display
From name: the name that you want messages you send to display

The last 3 options (Signature, Copy Outgoing, and Check interval) are self explanatory and shouldn't affect your connection at all.

thanks for the info... however, these settings do not appear to be working on my T68i. Tried it with several email addresses, but no luck ;( any tips? Could it be that I should change the server ports or anything? I always get the message that the server cannot be found, really annoying. My provider is Zonnet.nl (in case any Dutch people here that know what to do). I really want the MCA20, but if I want to distribute pictures I need email capability (can wait a long time for MMS kicks in probably). Thanks!!

These settings are very different, depending on country and provider/operator.

This is what I use on the T68i :

Pop-server : My internet-providers pop-IP-number.
pop-port 110

Smtp server: my phone-operators smtp IP-number.
smtp port 25

I found that with the T68i, I HAD to use IP-numbers in both pop and smtp-adresses. I cant just use the "names/adresses".

To be able to access pop3 web servers you need to enter the web gprs and not the wap gprs that is done by the following

Start off by creating a new data account:
- In the CONNECT menu goto DATA COMM. select DATA ACCOUNTS then ADD ACCOUNT
- select GPRS data, and enter a name (say 'GPRS Email')
- input 'internet' (lowercase) for the APN
- input 'web' (again lowercase) for USER ID
- input 'web' (again lowercase) for password
then save and return to the main menu.

Now use that for your email settings

I have used this in Turkey and it worked. Try it. Thanks.
