Hi
Does anyone know where I can get the little mirror for the T610 in the uk? My mum wrecked my T610 whilst on holiday, then swapped my phone with the mirror in it for a new one (orange insurance) for one without and orange say they can't return the mirror I had or send me a new one. I'm starting to dislike Orange's service and am thinking of returning to BT after my contracts over.

Not having the best of times adjusting after the holiday. My mirror bits gone, my footy team are bottom of the division and my favourite singer songwriter seems to have committed suicide. Grrr...

Well I can understand your anger with orange. If you had an inscurance they should give you a new phone, including a new mirror. You may call SonyEricsson and complain , they maybe know what to do.
Good luck

Cheers, that'll be my next stop for tomorrow. Orange have been useless since I've joined them. They told me to swap my phone without sim card and battery so I took them out and didn't think of the mirror, and now they claim they can't do anything about it.

Thats after they charged me for £5 for wap access which i didn't ask for but its apparently in the contract I signed. Which I couldn't have cos I joined over the phone/net. Now they're refunding me the cost, 1 month afterwards. So I pay the vat on it, and they get 1 months interest. Okay, it means little to me but orange do get money from it this way and it feels like their just fleecing me as much as possible! Their customer services leave a lot to be desired!! Grrr

Do that, and when you're buying a new phone. Leave Orange.

did any T610 owners out there get a wrist strap with their phone as i just checked and it has the same gap in the bottom like the P800 where a strap fits when the battery cover comes off...nothing in my box though.

@Vj
Cheers, I'll do that but I plan to leave orange when my contract expires anyway. It makes me appreciate how helpful BT were. Ok, they didn't match prices, but there service was great, there phones were unlocked (and unmessed) and their coverage was the same as oranges.

@decoy
I'll check my T610 packaging tonight, I'm sure I saw a handstrap in there...

My nearest service centres miles away. The only good thing about exchanging my phone was that I finally got the latest firmware. I think I'm getting lowridas mirror now, what an absolute star!

Hi,

So here is my story ...

I got my Sony Ericssoon T610 on an upgrade from the t681 in November last year. Shortly after receiving my handset, I noticed that the joystick was not working correctly; it was nearlly impossible to use the up key without going into a menu (that is rather than scrolling it would act like the select button).

I went into Orange, who diagnosed it as a fault and offered a replacement to be sent to me. Thank God I had been on Orange care!
The assistant said that when the delivery driver comes, I must give him the entire handset excluding my SIM and the battery.

However as soon as I got my new handset, I realised that the mirror plug was missing. I rang Orange immediately, who said that they were not able to replace it (one would think that Orange is highly organised - I am sure they could have tracked the driver who gave me the phone and thus figure out what happended to my mirror plug). They did not as much offer an apology.

I then followed the advice of this thread, and wrote to the executive office at Orange. Their reply was (copied exactly from their letter);

Quote:

Dear Mr Khan,

Thank you for your recent email, regarding the replacement of your Sony Ericsson T610.

I understand that you recently received a replacement phone due to a fault. You have also inadvertently returned the mirror attachment, which was supplied with the phone originally. I have today contacted our Accessories Team and some Orange Shops, I have been informed that this part can not be purchased separately. Therefore, I regret I am unable to supply you with a replacement.

Whilst I appreciate this is not the response you had hoped for, I trust the above explains the reason for this.

Yours sincerely,

Melanie Coverdale
Executive Assistant

I tried contacting SE from their website support. I recieved a dummy autoresponder reply, informing me that my query would be answered within 24 hours. After two weeks of not getting a reply to my numerous queries (I think I emailed them three times) I thought I would write to them.

So, I wrote a snail mail letter to Sony Ericsson, explaining what had happended. This is the reply I received;

Quote:

Dear Mr Khan,

We acknowledge your letter dated 11th December 2003 and we would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We consider customer service and customer satisfaction very important and we are disappointed that your encounter was not more successful and wish to assure you that your case is a rarity.

I would advise you to contact out Customer Repair Centre in Nottingham, the telephone number is 0870 0114880 who would be able to advise you regarding the small mirror button.

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us again or visit our website: http://www.sonyericsson.com

Yours sincerely,

Madeleine Courtliff
Sony Ericsson Customer Care.

Today (January 7th) I rang SE Notthingham and enquired about the mirror button. I explained the situation, and that SE Customer care said I should be able to get a free replacement from them. The guy who took my phone spent 5 minutes (whilst he put me on hold) to deduce what the hell the mirror plug is. He contibued to say that Orange loosing the mirror plug is clasified as 'Damage to the phone' and that I would have to pay a £23 service charge and then another charge for the mirror replacement. He said that I could not recover the mirror plug from Warranty.

Armed with the knowledge that SE *does* make these as replaceable parts, I thought I would ring Melanie Coverdale (Executive Assistant at Orange), to tell her that Orange could pay for this (after all,, I do pay a fiver a month for Orange Care).

I am still waiting for her to get off her break (which has lasted over an hour) so that she can ring me back.

saj
