Today i ask my Samsung rep why can't Samsung phones recieve any thing via infrared.He told me it is ILLEGAL to transfer info from one phone to another.

well if it is illegal i think sonyericsson and nokia will be in big shit by now!
the only things thats illegal is the sharing of applications, but you can't send it from one phone to another anyway

I discovered that over the years, that people who are actually employed in the cellular industry are complete morons, not all of them but most of them, and of all the companies the SonyEricsson employees are most knowledgable at least here in South Africa, I found that Motorola, siemens and samsung are the worst, Nokia staff just love to bullshit and talk inteligently about stuff they know nothing about

If you want any info on phones, ask Esato people instead of industry employees, I garuntee you you'll have better satisfaction.

well samsung has drm rights for media on their phone. For example if i download a picture or ringtone from wap i cant upload it to my pc thru IR because of the digital rights management

Actually phones like samsung and some nokias have 'crippled' IR which means they don't have full functionality They can at the mx transfer things like contacts, etc.

It sounds a bit wierd to me too but different countries do have different laws. It's not that long ago since the ban of was liftet in Israel.
