New 310 owner questions |

Hallo. I am new on this forum(just yesterday found it), and bought SonyEricsson T310 at friday(comes with SCA25 camera). Few explanations before questions:
My phone comes with preinstaled WAP configuration for another network, and logos(pictures) of that network provider. MY telephone comes SIM free, so my network works OK. I have RS232 cable for T39 phone. I already tried to download pictures and it worked. Don't have IR on computer, and my network(GSMBIH from Bosnia and Herzegovina country) does not support WAP or GPRS.
My questions are:
1. How to remove settings from previous network provider, both WAP settings and its logos/pictures. I tried set WAP off, but after resetting phone, those settings came back. To clear, I bought phone as new in store, not secondhand, but strange ways of sallers here get phone already preinstalled for another network(VIP from Croatia country)
2. How to download music to make it as ring tones(polyphone) with only RS232 cable. Is there any software for optimise my music to download it on my phone. I forget to mention, I am photographer and play a little with music.
3. Any other advices, links, tips and trics are wery welcome(of course  )

first of all, hello and welcome
1:you've got to go to connect (8), data com, data accounts, there you can select the one you want or delete those other settings.
you can not delete the pre installed stuff like ringtones or backgrounds (i know it sucks).
2: normally you can not do that with your RS232 i'm surprized you were able to download backgrounds with it. i think for you, since you've got the MCA-25 also, a irda USP adapter would solve all your probs when it comes to uploading and downloading stuff from or too your PC. a irda usb adapter is cheap and works fine
3: a tip for the cam. when you click in the cam, you can push #**# or *##* then you can adjust your color boost, standard its at 13 but you can set it abit higher, but not to high, othere wise your pics would look bad on your pc. if you don't use WAP or GPRS you can deactived GPRS on your phone that would save some battery time (connect, datacom, sms... (the last one) there you select only GSM)

For explanation, I had T20s before T310. I haven't found here USB cable so I bought RS232 cable, and tried it with T20S. Then I tried it with T310. It works with SonyEricsson Image Editor, and didn't tried MMS Editor yet. But, as my network does not support WAP and MMS, I don't know how much help MMS editor can be for me.

try searching for the 13 second trick, with that you might be able to remove the preinstalled stuff

Have no idea what 13 second trick is. Next, since financial situation in my country is poor, and my sallary is very low compare with yours(about 450EURO), I want to play as safe as I can. It would be hard to buy another phone is destroy this one |

yup better play it safe. i know your country isn't rich and that the people don't earn alot, but everything will get better there year after year. maby buy a irda usb adapter online? price is low. maby from expansys a good online shop

what's so bad about the 13 sec trick? i did it on my T300 and never regretted it.

Please, can you tell me more about irda adapter and about irda in first place. I am really new in mobile technology, and know very little, almost nothing, about it. Maybe some sources where can learn more?

Don't fear viruses on a T310, as it doesn't run SymbianOS or anything. |
