I'm trying to figure out if it's posible to use my P800 as a modem over Bluetooth, providing connectivity for my Sony PCG-TR1MP notebook with Bluetooth onboard (although no IR). Is this possible? I can discover and connect notebook and phone, but the available profiles seem to exclude any chance of the P800 functioning as a modem. Also, the P800 only seems to be able to function as a modem over IR. This seems crazy - surely I can use Bluetooth as the 'bearer' for PC connectivity to the network via a GPRS handset?

Apologies if this been answered already, but forum search is down.

Thanks.

The P800 can certainly work as a modem over bluetooth and I did it when I had one, both from my vaio and my ipaq.

Assuming the tr1mp uses bluespace (as I am on my V505AP with the BA1 dongle) then it certainly should discover a modem service as well as serial and from what I recall a file push service,

I wish it was that simple. I am using Bluespace NE 3.2, but the total discoverable services seem to be: file push, image push, remote camera and serial. And the only available services for the P800 (I've tried it with two separate handsets) are file push and serial. One less service than my T610 (which supports image push)!!!

Gah. Any other ideas? Please?

I'm using bluespace 2.1 and unfortunately not having a P800 any more I cannot think of anything to try. I do recall when I switched to the T610 I received the same profiles available and I am still successfuly dialling out via BT through the T610.

sorry.
