i know this has been covered in a lot by other posts, but could you fill in the gaps for me.
i understand that the ericsson mp3 player comes with a 32mb mmc card. can it play mp3s encoded at any bit-rate, ie. i could theoretically put double the music on if i encoded at 64bit? also does anyone know if it can play variable bit rate (vbr) mp3s or wma files?
also, especially as it wasnt designed for the t68, does it fit on well? i'm a bit worried that if it isn't secure/strong enough, it might snap off in my pocket/bag? i was also wondering if anyone thinks it makes the t68 too bulky to leave in my pocket, or if it looks totally out-of-place?
i assume that the mp3 functions are all controlled through the t68. what functons does it support, ie id3 tags, playlists, equaliser(!)?
finally, i use windows xp and was wondering if anybody had actually been able to get the mmc reader to work reliably, or whether i should just buy a usb one (as i dont want to have to go back to a dual-boot arrangement..). it seems a waste to pay for two (and a bigger mmc - dont suppose u can buy the mp3 player without the reader and mmc??)
would i be better off buying a stand-alone mp3 player? sorry to go on.

Personally I think the MP3 player is excellent. It fits nicely into my pocket and doesn't look too out of place at all.
Functions (skip tracks etc) are controlled by the phone. You can change the bass and treble, but no equalizer. Track names are shown as long as you save the tracks with names.
Don't think you can use anything other than MMC cards with them, but dabs.com have 64MB cards relatively cheap, and these work fine.

i havent got the mmc reader to work on xp. I think it will be best for you to get a USB one, it will save you more time in the future, because it is much quicker!

My laptop's got W2K and the MMC reader worked eventually, but it took ages to install the drivers for it. I ended up letting Windows detect it as a new device and using a file a support guy from SE sent me.
Works fine and dandy now though... |

did you know if MP3 player is delivered with some carrying case like radio HPR-10 ? Its delivered with special small bag where you can put that radio module and earphones. It has Ericsson logo on it. |

As great as I think the MP3 player is -- it does not snap on very securely (on my T68i). Any slight movement to the player resets it to start again, as if one of the contacts failed. Nothing is broken on it. I think I am going to get some contact spray, so the little movments won't disconnect it.
And yes, you can downgrade the music. I play 2 hours of music on a 64MB MMC card, at 64 KBs.I use a USB MMC card reader, and can encode and load that in 30 minutes. Sounds very good if you encode it with "lame", a program you can find on www.afterdawn.com. I tried Blaze Media ORi do downgrade to 64KBs, but the sound was not as good as lame did it. Funny different programs produce different qualities on the same size downgrade.

I'm having second thoughts about getting one now. Thining about it, I'd probably use it a lot when jogging and think I'd go mad if it kept restarting all the time.
Mind you, they do seem good value when compared to standalone players.. (But I'd probably have to buy a belt clip aswell?)

WEll, I didn't test Musicmatch (although I did just install it) I will try in the next day or 2 and let you know. But LAME seems to be very good. Jeff |

i have download a LAME program,but i have a little problem because i´m not good with the win programs.how you make with the lame,one 64 song from song wich is originaly 190 or 128 ?

Judging by other responses on this site, no, it only works with MMC cards. You can get 64MB ones for around GBP40 at www.dabs.com. I did, and it works great! |

To MTS,
You need to also download the accompanying "RazorLAme" program (also you can find it in www.afterdawn.com, and extract it into the same directory as where Lame is), which is a Wondows based front end for Lame. Then just go into the Lame settings, and where it says bitrate, set it ot 64kbs.
