my new night theme.

*ATTN photoshoppers: this is my first photoshop theme. why is the photoshop output so much larger than any other photo editing software.
this theme made by photoshop was 124kb. identical images saved as jpg by another photo editing software and made into a theme:36kb
does it have anything to do with photoshops compression (i saved my images as med. quality =6, jpg)? is there any way to pare the size down?

You should goto file, save for web, but select jpg, quality high 60, instead. Smaller filesizes and better looking images (65000colors).
Thats why most of my themes are only around 20-30kb in total.
T610 converts both gif and jpg to raw format on the phone when it show them - therefore no reason to use gif.

I know that MO's guide tells you to save as gif, but I disagree.

aboslutely right

when you goto save for web, and switch in the selection between gif and jpg you can see which gives the smallest filesize. With some not to demanding pictures you can even experiment on the qualitysettings, lower it from 60 untill you get unsatisfied with the picturequality, and see in realtime how small the files will be. It makes no difference in memoryuse on the phone once the theme is selected and loaded because then it converts the pictures to raw, but it makes a difference in the size of the themefile itself and how much memory that file will take up on the phone. Doing this carefully you can almost double the amount of themefiles you can hold on the phone and on the same time enhance the quality of the pictures by keeping it in 65000 colors. And keeping filesize of the themefile as low as possible also helps on downloadspeed and expenses for those that need to wap it down.

no they dont work for the P800/900

if you want some theming on those you will need to install a software called tracker on the phone.
