i think there is a prob.. with regards the deduction for the used of gprs in smart!!! last night i have loaded a 300 and then i used the gprs visiting the esato site, and when i disconnect i have a total of received bytes of 50,000 and a sent bytes of 20,000 which is equivalent to 70KB. and when i checked the balance, i was less by 50 pesos which is supposed to be 17 pesos lang dapat. and then i tried again, ive used a total of 5,000 bytes and when i checked the balance NABAWASAN NG 5 pesos..... which is dapat 1.25 pesos lang zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Is there anyone here na na monitor nya kung tama ung deduction sa gprs used????? thanks |

Do what I do... Keep a Sun prepaid SIM handy and switch to that for your GPRS surfing needs - very reliable and they don't cheat you.

Ang problema dyan, Smart does not keep any records of transaction/activities of their pre-paid subscribers. Kapag nagreklamo ang subscriber, walang proof na sumobra ang bawas nila sa mga load. |

i'm on pre-paid and i paid P70.57 for making 282.31KB of data transmission.
you should complain to customer service. |

Good thing I'm in globe. We can't really surf because of all the blocked sites but at least we don't get ripped off. |

jomni, i have no problems surfing on Globe's paid internet gateway. Don't complain about their free gateway since Smart was charging for WAP access a long time ago.
Globe will start charging for their WAP gateway soon and when they do, ALL WAP sites will be opened once again and full access will be granted.
Pre-paid subscribers will be allowed to surf once again on their internet gateway as well.

My point is, free man o hindi, mahal talaga mag-surf using GPRS (kahit 25 centavos per kb). I don't want to get addicted to it. Especially because our phones can veiw real webpages not just wap...

Medyo matagal tagal na akong di nakakapag surf using GPRS.
Dati kasi nag si-surf ako ng madaling araw, at kahit madami na ang na download ko, pag nag balance inquire ako after several minutes di naman masyado malaki ang nababawas.
Ibat ibang portals pa ang pinupuntahan ko.
Siguro during peak hours yung pag download nyo. Kaya mataas ang singil.
Pero kung talagang 0.25/kb ang charge ng SMART, sa tingin ko ay mataas yun.
Subokan ko nga mamayang gabi.
Thanks sa info. |

Wap surfing via Gprs is expensive but instant mesaging via gprs is a good deal ... it comes out cheaper than Sms.

Oh, one more thing... GPRS charges are 2-way... not just downloaded data... GPRS charges you for both UPLOADED AND DOWNLOADED data... forum posting, email, login/password all add up to your data charge. Viewing a simple webpage may not eat up a lot...but if you post a long message, that will add to your total data sent.
Even if they do not overcharge, Smart is smart... packets are resent if the client computer doesn't receive a response within a certain time... so your phone might be resending page requests if they set their servers to reply slowly... technically that's not overcharging... but it's a technical loophole that I'm sure Smart exploits. (What can you expect from PLDT?) |

if you are so sure, prove it, that PLDT has in anyway something to do with how a WAP gateway will act and process packet requests.
i'm no pro-pldt, nor pro-smart, but i do not make baseless claims such as those. |
