I have the feeling that if the P800 had SDIO instead of MS Duo (or even CF), it would've been a lot more popular as there wouldn't have been the high prices and delays getting MS Duo sticks and we wouldn't have been limited to 128mb.
I suppose this is a good thing overall that Sony has someone convinced NEC to use MS Duo in the new 3g phone, the e616 (the update to the piece of $hit e606). It hopefully means that MS Duos will be available from every 3 shop (although they may try and stick a "3" on it like they do everything else) and maybe even lead to increased competition with the existing retailers bringing the price down.
It seems our P800s are finally not alone!! (I know the Z1010 and P900 will use them obviously, but since they're not in stores, they don't count)

I disagree with you on your statement that this is what is important. What is truly important is that other manufacturers are starting to adopt this technology. A memory stick reader will read both cards (using an adapter in the case of a duo), and that is was is most convenient and backward compatible. |

Technically there are 485 companies who are linked to Memory Stick (obviously not all of them actually make products using Memory Stick). As far as I know, the NEC e616 is the first product from a company besides Sony &  to use MS Duo. This is what makes it important.
Edit: Just some examples of other companies that have been using MS in their products: Konica in cameras, Samsung in camcorders, Acer, BenQ, NEC in laptops, Kenwood and Pioneer in stereo systems, et al.

OK, good point, however, I am still happy to see people bring out products which support regular MSs since I have a few. |

I suppose if this thing supported MS Duo Pro (which it may do, but very probably, almost definitely not) then I reckon it would've generated a lot more interest. |
