Anybody know or try to use Bluetooth headsets as PC headset for chatting online? If I have a Bluetooth USB Adapter plug into my computer, can I do that? Do I need to configure something else? | |

I use my Plantronics M3000 for web-based education via Marratech and a friend of mine uses his most every day with Netmeeting, so, yes itīs possible 
Note: I use MSI-MS6967 dongle and my friend use TDK but it should work equally well with other brands.

I was able to configure my Anycom Bluetooth USB Adapter to do just this. |

have any of you guys seen the keyboard and mouse that are bluetooth technology ??? they are out there i saw them in a magazine ... dont know if they are hard to find

I use my HBH-30 with MSN and Yahoo voice chat... works fine!
Regarding the BT keyboard mouse... DO NOT GET THEM. Bluetooth technology is amazing... it's really a breakthrough in wireless technology... BUT it has it's place.
A BT KB and mouse are NOT for the tech savy... not YET anyway. they are more for people who just wanna have the latest and most expensive stuff. Why? Well, first of all... BT is not native to PC boards, and PC BIOS. If it was, then there would be no problems.
I was actually going to buy a BT keyboard/mouse set as well... but then the following issues turned me away, and I got a regular wireless keyboard (RF)
1.)BT drivers load WITH Windows (or your OS) ... NOT the system bios... so to alter any BIOS settings, you need to plug in a regular keyboard to hit the "Del" key (or whatever your Mobo uses to enter Setup)
2)BT still drains a lot more power than regular low power RF
3)BT may offer higher mouse rates... but the main delay comes from transmission, not data rate so there is still a VERY slight delay.. Gamers, it's very annoying.
4)BT KB/mice need to go to sleep very often to save battery power...and take forever to wake up and pair up. This is because BT is a secure connection requiring pairing and authentication.
5)You can't use your BT for your phone anymore since it's used my the keyboard and mouse. Although BT is supposed to be able to work with 8 devices... this isn't the case in reality..for now. | |
