t68i bluetooth discovery / firmware upgrade issue |

I recently flashed my t68i to R8A015, failed on the first try and had to use KillAVR to get it working again. I haven't had any standby issues, but the Bluetooth discoverability isn't working with the WIDCOMM software (1.3.2.7). I did not test the discoverability function before the flash, so I'm not sure if the problem is WIDCOMM or a bad firmware flash. I have noticed that other people have not had much luck with discovering their t68i with this software either. I can however pair up with my computer from the phone. Haven't tried transferring data yet though. I am going to try to see if another bluetooth device can discover my phone next... otherwise I guess I'll send it in to Global Mobility (gsm.virtualdynamix.com) for their t68 standby/bluetooth fixing.
My question is... other than, for example... letting an iMac they have for a demo in a retail store try to 'discover' my t68i... is there another way I could know for sure that the discoverability in my t68i was broken because of the firmware upgrade? Or is it maybe just the crappy WIDCOMM software itself? Anyone in a similar situation or knowledgeable enough, I'd appreciate some input. Thanks for the wonderful site guys! Sony Ericsson rocks. |

little bit of an update.... I can send files from my phone but not the other way around (at least w/ the WIDCOMM software) haven't tried yet w/ the MPM / SendFile / Bluetooth emulated serial port combination... will try that later at home...
I guess what I'm getting at is that perhaps the problem w/ those of us who can't get their T68i be discoverable is related to a bad firmware flash... That's just my theory for now and I will try to confirm it much later... when I get access to some other bluetooth device to pair up.
I encourage anyone else who has the same situation to try pairing their T68i which isn't discovered with the WIDCOMM software to another bluetooth device... say a PDA or an iMac or something... that'll help in trying to see if this is TRULY a software issue or phone firmware issue after all (I think it's a firmware issue based on my own reasoning now...) |

yet another update... turns out that the firmware upgrade via the KillAVR did affect the bluetooth discoverability of the T68i. So for those people who are having trouble trying to discover their T68i/other SE phone w/ the bluetooth dongles... I'd reccomend going to your nearest phone shop and trying to see if your phone can get discovered by another bluetooth enabled phone... Mine discovered the Nokia they had quite easily, but the Nokia failed to discover my phone... which proves the fact that the software had nothing to do with it after all... oh well... I'll have it repaired by the end of next week |

I'm from the northeastern US... sending it out to these ppl... http://gsm.virtualdynamix.com They have a post on a thread here on Esato somewhere saying they could fix the discoverability problem. ( The specific fixing option from their online store is here... http://www.globalmob.com/cart/customer/product.php?productid=74 )
No SE service centers around where I live... so I have to resort to companies like them.
