for those like myself who like gadgets (but cant afford them and like to look)
found this archos av320 reviewed in a mag looks a great piece of kit.can record videos on it tape dvds tv shops etc onto its 20gb hard drive rip mp3 etc onto it looks a nice gadget even at £500 http://www.archos.com/products/av300_series.html?sid=j22oy2ysbj2kojjb344y3y

yeah I've mentioned the Archos here a couple of times in the last couple of months, in particular the AV340 which is the 40Gb version.
I did see something even better in the latest Stuff or T3 mag but I don't have them with me so cant tell you much more than that.
