I'm about to buy a T39, but the mobile phone industry is extremely dodgy here in Vietnam, and even the official distributors aren't trustworthy. So I'd like to know:

1) What should I get in the box (batteries, sync stuff etc)
2) What is the latest version of synchronisation software?
3) What is the latest firmware version, and how can I check it?

Is there anything else I should look out for (eg dodgy batches like T65)?

BTW, are there any differences types of T39 - does the M mean anything?

Thanks a lot

Hey there! Welcome to Esato.

You're supposed to get the following in the box:
- your phone w/ a battery
- a CD containing PC software/ manuals
- manuals

the box should have a list of what you expect to find inside.

latest firmware is R4B0008(?) just mind the R4B part

T39m is the version with T9 english. while the T39mc is the once with chinese character capabilities (w/o T9 english)

To find the firmware version:
- press the follwing keys: >*<<*<*
- go to service info -> SW information and there you'll find the firmware version of the phone

hope that helps.

it's better if you get a phone with authorized warranties so you can get firmware upgrades for free for a year from authorized service points.

Thanks.

Sorry to have more questions. You say a battery - is that standard, high capacity or slim? I take it that a PC link cable isn't supplied then. No doubt available for v. reasonable price!

I seem to remember reading somewhere (but of course I can't remember where), that there were some problems with the PC synchronisation software. Do you know about the version history of this?

Thanks again

the standard battery that came in was the slim one (code BUS-11)

there are no data cables but you got plenty of connectivity options: IR or BlueTooth.

Don't know much about that synch software problem. i don't sync my phone with my pc at all. (though i sync it from an internet server)

the version on the CD is often a quite old version... the newest version can be downloaded from http://wap.sonyericsson.com

Think it's the slim (or Ultra slim as calls it) battery that comes with the phone...
