hi all,

i bought a cheap, non branded usb-to-phone cable for my T610 but i can't get it to work. the driver that came with it is duff- and i've tried the 'mobile phone monitor app' from here:

http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/en/software_windows.htm

but it still wouldn't recognise the phone... i'm getting desperate now to be able to upload games and images etc.!

any help would be really, really appreciated. any ideas??

Well, first thing that comes to mind is - does the cable really work?
To test,
1. connect your phone
2. open "Hyperterminal" (shipped with windows, found in accessories)
3. for "Connect using", choose your cable's COM port
4. when the connection is established, type "AT" at the promt

...if you get answer ("OK"), the cable works, if not - it doesn't
If I had all the answers, I wouldn't have any questions.

Look in device manager
...and since you don't know what COM port is in use, I guess you havn't activated it in Mobile Phone Manager (control panel), which you need to do...

No, if you couldn't type anything, it means connection was not successfull...

I would recommend bluetooth. It's easy (once you get the hang of it), fast, and cable free . It also supports all phone features.

If you don't want to spend so much money, go for IR. It costs nearly the same as a cable and provide much better functionality (though not as good as bluetooth)

The search will probably provide you with some feedback on the quality of different model BlueTooth dongles. MSI is probably one of the better choices..

[EDIT]
Remember that you can't send files from phone to PC if you are using a cable...
