The only one I know of is sync4j (http://sync4j.funambol.com)
Unfortunately I cannot get it to work properly and I don't know enough about JAVA and JDBC to make it work!

DOn't know about that.
The zip files include startup scripts in linux AND dos format (both .sh files and .bat files)
Since the entire thing is JAVA, it *should* run anywhere right?

Sync4J is compatible with both win32 and Linux, according to their documentation. I haven't tested it on a win32 machine, but have run it under Linux without any real problems.
AFAIK, it is the only freeware SyncML server on the market. |

[Sort of OT]
Did you get sync4j to work with a phone?
Did you change the database type or use HyperSonic?
I could use some help setting it up properly and am not getting any help from the mailing list!
